The Nigerian Young Water Professionals programme offers
practical and effective ways for those interested in a water sector
career to follow their interests and gain experience.
Our programme presents opportunities for career development at workshops, technical events, and online initiatives. These activities help you to develop your skills and expand your network of colleagues and associates. We provide opportunities for young professionals to network in social and professional environments. Participants can present their work in a peer to peer learning environment at conferences and forums and can take advantage of a suit of initiatives that support the development of the future workforce in the water sector.
Nigerian Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition (NSJWPC)
SJWP is open for projects striving to improve water quality, water resources management, water protection, water and wastewater treatment as well as water education and social related aspects of water. The projects may focus on local, regional, national or global topics. The contestants can compete with a practical project in the field of technology, natural and social science using innovative development methods and approaches to solve water problems. All projects must use a research-oriented approach, including scientifically accepted methodologies for investigation, experimentation, monitoring and reporting the results. Contestants in theoretical and applied science as well as projects aiming at solving community water problems are all welcome.The international Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition brings together the world's brightest young scientists to encourage their continued interest in water and the environment. Each year, thousands of Secondary School Students within the ages of 15 and 20 years from over 30 countries join national competitions for the chance to represent their nation at the international final held during the World Water Week in Stockholm. During their time in Stockholm, winners of the national competitions receive an opportunity to meet and learn from the present leaders of the global water community and make life-long friendships with international compatriots who share a passion for water and science. Stockholm Junior Water Prize gathers imaginative young minds from all over the world, encouraging their continued interest in water and sustainability issues. Each year, thousands of participants in over 35 countries all around the globe join national competitions in
hopes of earning the chance to represent their nation at the international final.
The prize consists of two parts: the national competition and the international final. All participating countries arrange their own national competition. The national winner
proceeds to the international final in Stockholm that takes place during World Water Week.
The national and international competitions are open to young people between the ages of 15 and 20 who have conducted water-related projects of proven environmental, scientific, social or technological significance. The projects range from local to global topics.
During the national final at the Nigerian Young Water Professionals Conference, the finalists actively join the national conference through a variety of arranged activities. This includes meeting with researchers, politicians and media: interviews with the national jury, and of course the prize ceremony and Award dinner.

events: interviews with the international jury, a tour of Stockholm, and of course, the prize ceremony and award dinner.
The winner of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize receives a USD 15,000 award, a crystal prize sculpture, a diploma, as well as the stay in Stockholm. The winner�s school receives USD5,000. The international jury may choose to award different projects with Diplomas of Excellence, in which case the recipient receive USD 1,000. The prize sums are provided by the Stockholm Water Foundation. All finalists will receive diplomas and recognition on stage.
